The Twin-Hydra is a shoulder slung heavy assault weapon. A marvel of advanced chemical science, one part flame-thrower and one part high pressure acid cannon designed to work in tandem to devastating effect.
The Hydra’s Caustic Cannon shoots a steady stream of potent corrosive liquid similar to Nitric Acid which will not only dissolve flesh and metal alike but acts as a powerful oxidizer as well. A target of this attack that does not make its Reflex Save for half damage must also make an additional Reflex Save DC (16) or be blinded for (1d4) rounds.
The Hydra’s second weapon fires a mellon-sized ball of gelatinous NP4, a form a napalm, which is ignited upon exiting the weapon and will adhere to most surfaces including skin. NP4 will continue to burn for up to a (1) minute, (10)rounds, at near (2,000°F) and can not be extinguished with water. In tight or inclosed areas this can have the secondary effect of inducing hyperthermia(heat stroke), dehydration, suffocation, smoke exposure, and carbon monoxide poisoning; treat this effect as an air born poison with a Fortitude Save DC (16) with the initial effect of nausea for (2d4) rounds and a secondary effect of (1) point of Constitution damage.
The Hydra’s true terror comes in play when a target previously hit by its acid attack, and still under that effect, is subsequently hit by its flame attack. In such cases the oxidizing effect of the acid reacts with the NP4 causing its exothermic reaction to rapidly accelerate. This shortens the length of time the napalm will burn the target to only (2) rounds, but Triples the amount of Fire damage the target takes in those rounds. The extreme heat created by this effect can cause permanent damage. Any creature that takes more than (50) collective points of damage in this way suffers (1d4) points of Permanent Constitution Damage as well.
A Twin-Hydra is not only heavy, but very bulky and difficult to wield, any character who carries one and is not wearing power-armor suffers a (-2) penalty to Dex and a (-5) penalty to movement speed.
A Twin-Hydra requires special training to properly use and should be treated as an Exotic Weapon.
A person carrying a Twin-Hydra, as well as anyone near them, can be at considerable risk for friendly fire. If a character using this weapon ever takes (50) points of damage or more from a single attack, there is a (50%) chance that the weapon’s fuel tanks will explode dealing (8d8) points of Fire/Acid Damage each round for the next (3) rounds to everything within (10)ft of the wearer at the time of the explosion.
